ABRSM Practical (In-Person) Exams will continue to be held at NSS (Actual Dates TBA

Performance (Recorded) Exam will continue and Recording Sessions at New Song Studio will be available once every Quarter/3-months (Actual Dates TBA)

Students can choose to record at any time

There is now a Minimum & Recommended Weekly Lesson Length for ABRSM Candidates

Music Theory Requirement: Music Theory should only be a part of the students lessons until Grade 1:

Student should either arrange for Private Music Theory Lessons, or

Enroll in one of the Music Theory Group Classes:

Placement Exam will take place on Sunday, September 29 & Monday September 30

Recitals
-
The Annual Winter Recital Series will be held in the Scorca Hall at the Opera Center:

Sunday, November 24

Sunday, December 8

All students are welcome and encouraged to participate, and sign-up will be open to you soon

Students Should, and should be encourage to play from memory at the Recital

The in-studio Recital Room is open for you to hold intimate recitals whenever available.

Keep in mind the limited capacities (Audience + Performers < 25)

Requests

New Song Studio is now open on Mondays, operating at regular weekday hours for lessons.

Beginning: Please step into the waiting/reception area if a student is not at your door by the time their lesson is supposed to start

Wrapping Up: Please actively engage parents at the end of each lesson when possible:

Words of encouragement, praise, or request for improvement, etc.
-
Building a communicative relationship with parents, even if it is just to say hi (our administrative team can help!)

Consistency and Punctuality:

Notify the administrative team as early as possible when taking days off so they can get a head-start on make-up/sub arrangements
-
Arrive 5-10 mins before the beginning of your first lesson so you have ample time to settle in
-

Minimize interruption: planning ahead as to avoid leaving students in the classroom during lesson

Follow house-keeping items (Studio Rules)

We would like to organize and invite you to attend Bi-Monthly (every Odd-Number Month) get togethers with the NSS Faculty family, where we exchange teaching ideas, tips, anecdotes, and plan for future events and collaborations
Studio Rules
-
Eating inside the studio is strictly prohibited (please utilize the break room)
-
Avoid placing liquids of any sort on top of the piano. Students may drink only water inside the studio, and their water should be immediately put away and not be placed on or near the piano or other studio instruments
-
Dispose liquids only in the bathroom sink or toilet, please do not pour liquid into the watercooler drip-tray, or throw anything containing liquids directly into the garbage can
-
Help us prevent scratches and dents by not placing things with sharp edges directly on the piano's surface
-
Avoid brushing eraser bits or other debris onto the piano keyboard / into the grand piano
-
When sanitizing, spray and wet the cotton wipes and avoid spraying directly on the piano keyboard
-
Log out of your account and shut down the Chromebooks properly
-
Utilize studio phones for Online Lessons and Parents' remote participation
-
Whenever possible, please encourage students/parents to purchase books and avoid making copies of lengthy pieces
-
Notify our administrators whenever books are taken from the library/bookshelves
